Another great kids show has ended. After a 26 year run, Reading Rainbow is going off the air. Apparently, their has been a shift in priorities in funding. The government wants PBS to focus more on phonics and reading skills, while Reading Rainbow was more focused on getting kids excited about reading.
I actually had some small involvement in reading rainbow. In the early nineties I helped film some of those little clips where the kids talk about the books they read while I was a camera man at Homework Hotline.
